Welcome to my "My Little Pony" page! I have rekindled my childhood passion for these toys, and now that I actually have money, I can afford to buy them! It all started way back when I was 5 years old. All my friends asked me what I wanted for my birthday, so of course I told them to get me an mlp! I had it all worked out - if each of them got me one, then I'd have a pretty decent-sized herd! Unfortunately, the message didn't quite get through to my all friends' parents. Only my best friend at the time came through for me (I knew she would cos she had the same pony obsession!) and she gave me Tickle, the rainbow haired pony from year 3 (I think?). It took what seemed like forever to get her out of the box, and I needed lots of adult help (much like the ponies of today!!). Everyone was immediately jealous! I could hear them all whispering - "wow! It has rainbow hair!", "Its symbol has got glitter on it!, why does she get one?". I didn't care, I was just happy to have a pony at long last :) I absolutely adored ponies back then, as did most other little girls my age! I desperately wanted to add to my herd, but my mum refused to buy me any more, saying that one was enough. This upset me back then, but I understand her motives - she didn't want to spoil me and make me think I could have everything I wanted. Still, back then I wanted more. Eventually after lots of persistence, I got a fakie pony to join Tickle, and I wasn't fussed since she was flocked so she was nice and furry, and she was purple like Tickle so they were like sisters :). Next year I discovered pony clothes! They were all the rage, much like dressing our Barbies up! Of course I wanted some, but again my mum said no, but she came through for me in the end, knitting a "skirt" and "shoes" for Tickle, although the "skirt" had trouble fitting over her wings. Still, it did me well enough.
And that brings me to today, where I am yet again crazy about ponies! Hang on, let me rewind a bit... about a year ago (early 2004) my brother introduced me to ebay. I thought it was fantastic that I was able to find whatever I wanted - stamps (as I've collected them since I was 7) and DVDs that we have trouble finding in Australia (I also collect them - you can very safely describe me as a collector!), and even Buffy and Angel stuff. I was having an absolute ball! Then I discovered that people also sell their old toys online! I investigated this, since I was always careful with my toys and wanted to see what they are worth today. To my amazement, Tickle was up there for $35! "Not too bad" I thought, although she's worth far more than that to me. I also realised then that mlp's were quite popular on ebay, so I did a bit of research and discovered that there's quite a large mlp community out there. I took myself back to my pony playing days, and remembered just how good they were and decided then and there that I would join that community and once again become addicted to all things mlp :). I know that many collectors see ebay as a scurge on the pony community, but for me, it helped me rediscover my love for ponies and also makes it a hell of a lot easier for me to find what i want. so far, I have only found 5 ponies (and one interesting fakie!) at markets and 2nd hand toy shops. I just can't find much anywhere, and the ones I did find cost me around $5 each in poor condition with massive hair cuts, missing tails and badly worn bodies, which is worse than what I can get on ebay. So I don't have any complaints (yet!), although at the same time I've been careful not to go too crazy (except for one pay-day oops!!). Play it smart and you'll be happy.
my "original" collection consists of Tickle with her green brush and comb (I told you I was careful with my toys! - I actually even kept her back card for years, but then decided to get rid of it when recycling came in - yes I am kicking myself!), a My Little Pony ink stamp and a showbag full of mlp goodies from the Royal Adelaide Show (it's an Australian thing!) which included hair clips and other girly bits and pieces. Apparently there's another one coming out this year so I'll have to make sure that I go in September and get it!
I have since bought lots of ponies, from ebay and markets (I have a few from Italy, one from Macau and one without a country - Spain I believe??, and I just adore my big brother ponies! they're soooo cute!), as well as the new G3 ones from stores (isn't it fun to get a new pony and be able to take it out of the box?!?) My focus is on collecting G1s and G3s, although I do have some G2s and also some 'interesting' fakies. I have also branched out in my G3 collection, with my funky round mlp tin that zips up and came full of marshmallows and my plush Wind Song, and gigantic plush 1 metre high (I think??) Rainbow Dash! I got so excited when I saw her in the shop (they also had a gigantic Pinkie Pie) but told my mum that I'd get her when Target had a sale since she cost $100. I couldn't believe it when my family got her for me for my birthday! Aren't I lucky? I have since found out that she's an Australian exclusive. I have a severe lack of space, so for now she sits next to my computer which lives in our dining room. Sounds crazy, but that's life at my house.
I've also read up quite a bit about pony customisation - I have bought 3 custom ponies from ebay (am currently in the process of paying for the 3rd one) and have several "bait" ponies that I am planning to do great things to. As yet I haven't had time to actually get stuck into customising a pony, and I have to do more thinking about how I want her to look first.
I will be constantly updating this area of my site with info about my collection, customs and any ponies that I have for sale, as well as useful links that I've discovered. Please visit often!
If you have any bait G1 or G3 (desperately needed!) ponies that you would like to sell, please email me!
